Mastodon verification

Hi

In order to verify a Mastodon account I need to include a link from my blog back to my mastodon profile and include the rel=“me” tag within the link

for example

Mastodon

However WriteAs seems to sanitize the code and removes this and replaces with

Mastodon

I have replaced my username with user in the example links above.

As a result the verification process fails (or seems to), Just been discussing this on Mastodon so I though i would ask here for help too.

I understand why this happens, but as WriteAs also federates and works with ActivtyPub, then this is the intended behaviour or is there a bug somewhere,. and possibly a work around please.
