We've detected abusive activity on your IP address (trying to register for a new account)

Good morning.

I am trying to register for a pro account. When I made my first attempt to set up an account, I was given no feedback, and taken to a new post page. I clicked in the top right corner and found the anonymous sample post I had written a few hours previously. There was no further feedback and no verification email, so I tried to register again, and that’s when I started to be caught by the “abuse filter”. I don’t really understand what went wrong there, but am sure I made it worse by trying again! I would very much appreciate some help registering from an account, preferably from somebody who can unban my IP address for the crime of I-have-no-idea-what.

In this post and this post, other users have the same issue as I have been having. I tried to comment on one of these posts rather than start a new thread, but I then got shunted into “your posts need to be approved”. Since then, the bots have been sending me notifications about how I need to make new posts. I think you may have an unintentional catch-22 there. Frustrating experience so far, the usual “prove that you deserve to exist on the internet”, not a good look, and most people who want to give you a monthly subscription fee would have given up by now, it’s only because the fediverse has limited options that I’m still trying.

Thank you.

Sorry for the trouble. We do have some pretty heavy-handed automation in place for certain situations, and it seems like you might’ve bumped into that. I just sent you a private message that should help!
