Service doesn't start - keys/email.aes256 missing

I tried the installation for my new instance and was about to start the service, when I got this error
ERROR: 2021/02/08 20:50:33 main.go:121: init keys: open keys/email.aes256: no such file or directory
Surely enough, when I checked, the folder /var/www/writefreely/keys was indeed empty.
Is there a step that I missed?

writefreely keys generate

Now, for some reason, the page isn’t displayed when I call the URL but that’s maybe because of the domain registration. I see if it that gets solved in the next few days and, if not, I’ll just make another topic.
