Revert to published version of a post?

On my local instance, freely.modspil.dk, I wanted to edit an article.

I messed up and accidentally deleted the text of the article. It autosaved, and now when I try to “Edit” the article all the MarkDown is gone! I understand that this is a feature, that it allows you to continue drafting a new version of a piece and still keep the original published, but …

Is there an easy way to get it back? I suppose I could cut and paste the HTML and reformat the Markdown in a text editor, but maybe there’s a sneaky, perhaps command line-based, method to revert to the current _published* version?

Thanks in advance for any response.

As long as you haven’t actually published the changes so that they’re updated online, you can always get the original Markdown by adding .md to the post’s published URL, e.g. https://write.as/blog/re-opening-free-accounts.md – this will show the raw text behind the post. Then you could copy and paste that into the editor. Would that work?

Thanks a lot, that worked!

Loved your talk at Fosdem, by the way - it was very good to hear your own perspective on why you made the platform and made me even happier that I’ve chosen it for my blogging.
