Pull quotes are a feature of magazine typography which are often missing from web publishing tools - I often want to emphasise a certain thought/passage/etc in a way that provides a natural break in the flow of a piece of prose.

Any implementation of pull quotes should be careful not to break markdown rendering in things that aren’t writefreely/write.as - perhaps more <!--HTML comment fudgery--> would be appropriate, much like we already use <!--more-->?

Just wondering if block quotes would be of any use here? You might have to add some custom CSS to get the style you want.

But markdown has something like this.
