I am a new user of write.as. I started typing my first post in a url that looks like this:
I assumed that what I was typing was being saved periodically since I didn’t see a “save” button. But when I left and returned to my computer after a while, and tried clicking “Blogs” from the main menu, I couldn’t return to my post. The same url displays a blank page, and if I choose “Posts” from the menu it doesn’t show any posts.
Luckily, I had copy-pasted what I was writing to a local text editor, so I didn’t lose any text (though I did lose the formatting and pictures I had inserted). Now I want to try again but I’m worried that this situation will repeat itself. Am I doing something wrong?
An update. I recreated my post. There are still a lot of things that don’t seem to work. I used the rich editor, and the word count wasn’t being updated. When I finished I tried publishing but pressing the “publish” button doesn’t do anything. When I tried switching to the plain editor all my text disappeared, and when I returned to the rich editor it was still gone. I’m using Firefox on MacOS Sequoia.
No, javascript is enabled. I’m on a corporate laptop, so there are some settings that get tweaked for me.
I tried now on Chrome and Safari - a similar thing seems to be happening there, where if I switch from the plain to the rich editor or vice versa I lose the text I’ve pasted (I’ve been only copy-pasting the text in, other than tiny edits).
I also noticed that the reset password link didn’t work on Firefox, but that did work when I opened it in Chrome.
I can try on a different computer (Windows or Linux) tomorrow, but my work laptop is my main machine and I’d really prefer to use it.
Hmm, are you familiar with browser Developer Tools at all? If so, it’d be helpful to know if you notice any errors in the console window while typing. The editor should automatically save your work while typing, so that if you leave and come back, or switch between editors, the text should remain there.
If you’re not familiar, let me know and I can walk you through the steps to help figure out what might be going on.
Hey, my previous email got filtered because I included too many links in it, I’m sending it again with some of the links redacted
I can see these errors in the Firefox console:
The script from “https://cdn.snapas.net/js/dropzone.min.js” was loaded even though its MIME type (“text/html”) is not a valid JavaScript MIME type.
