Port blog comments from Bluesky

Hey @Matt,

In the past, I suggested porting in Mastodon comments to Remark.as (that is, any comment someone leaves to a post on Mastodon where you include a link to an article). I still stand by this, but I’d like to suggest that you do this for Bluesky, maybe even first.

Here is a blog post of someone who has done this. Scroll to the bottom.

Here is the post they made on Bluesky where the comments are coming from.

Here is a comment explaining that it works that way on Bluesky.

I feel very strongly that this is the way to go with Remark.as. When we share articles, the conversation typically happens on the platform where we share it. It’s rare today that people will leave comments on the actual blog. Having these automatically brought in from Bluesky (or Mastodon) would be a value add. As it stands, Remark.as isn’t super useful.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention @justinf! Totally agreed this is the way to go with Remark.as – multi-protocol support has always been the goal.

I’ve been thinking about how this would work on ATproto lately (here and here), and it seems comments could be relatively trivial compared to everything else we could do by integrating.

I’ll dig into the technical side to see what this would involve, and keep you updated on progress here!

No problem. Also, here is a detailed explanation of how to do it with Bluesky.

Okay, last one… this post has the code for the “easiest way” to do it.
