We’re all writers here - and I think we can be trusted with a larger limit on the Mastodon server. 
It doesn’t appear to be very complicated to change.
I, for one, would love it if the limit was at least 1000 characters instead, as I keep bumping up to the 500 character limit…
What’s other people’s opinion?
