Paging links not vertically aligned

This is one of those annoying CSS things I keep trying to track down and failing. If you look at, say, @matt’s blog on Write.as, the Older/Newer links are vertically even…

…but if you look at my blog on a WriteFreely Host site, they are not; the Newer is a few pixels higher than Older.

I can’t figure it out, because the only CSS that’s been customized is on the anchor tag inside the paging area, and nothing for the paging element itself.

Anyone have any ideas?

ETA: If i remove all custom CSS, they are aligned as on Matt’s site. But this is baffling to me as my custom CSS doesn’t touch the paging element itself.
