Jot.as - private notes

Imma go with abandoned.

Seems so.

@matt is it abandoware, or not? Just a yes or a no (and if no dw, ik u have to swing with priorities non-stop)

(But still)

I really appreciate everyone’s input here. As a TL;DR, at this point, I wouldn’t hold my breath for this.

The original idea for Jot.as was mostly to re-purpose our mobile apps for private note-taking. My focus has shifted away from mobile to the web and WriteFreely. Plus the space has changed a lot over the years, and looking at this whole thread, I think there are some high expectations for what an app like this would do (i.e. “minimalistic” probably wouldn’t cut it). There are also some more difficult aspects to tackle like encryption and cross-device syncing.

It’s not to say this will never happen in some distant future, especially if we could leverage something open source (as some mentioned) that has already solved many of these problems. But web publishing has always been central for us, so right now I’m entirely focused on improving Write.as / WriteFreely, building more social features, etc.

Apologies for getting people’s hopes up here, but again appreciate all the input and help ultimately making a decision on pursuing this or not.
