Is it possible to transfer a blog to a new user?

I’m self-hosting a multi-user instance, freely.modspil.dk.

Would it be possible to transfer on of my blogs to a different user? I can’t seem to find it in the user interface.

There’s no way to transfer a blog to another user in WriteFreely, but maybe that’s something we could allow. Out of curiosity, is there a particular reason you want to transfer blogs to another user, instead of e.g. creating a new blog on your account, or changing your username?

Hi,

thanks for getting back!

my specific use case is that I’ve been reposting a daily newsletter by another writer for some time, and he offered to update it himself when I’m off for some reason … and because of that I wanted to create a new user and transfer the blog to him to avoid sharing my (admin) password and account with him.

Now he seems to have found a new and better home for the newsletter and so it will soon be less relevant, but I imagine similar situations could arise for other people.

Another way to solve the same use case would be to have collaborative blogs, so other users on an instance could be added to an existing blog. I don’t know if that’s in the roadmap for WriteFreely, but I can see how it could be useful.

Yeah, sounds like collaborative blogs would fit best. This is exactly what we have planned, actually! We have it developed on Write.as right now, and have it planned for a near-future WriteFreely release. Originally we were only planning support for single-user instances (development task here), but it sounds like it’d fit well for multi-user instances, so this is great feedback.
