You’d need to be in markdown mode, not the rich text editor. This is because markdown interpreters also parse html. Originally write.as only had markdown entry, so this didn’t need to be clarified - and presumably the docs are from back then.
I thought perhaps it had something to do with that. I think I’m gonna move to the markdown editor for this and other reasons. Rich text editors often have lots of bugs associated with them. Anyway, thank you for letting me know.
Confirmed! I’m down with Markdown. Rich text editors are maybe a little quicker, but Markdown is more reliable. And with that I have more flexibility.
My major concern is that I’m going to be using Write.as for publishing articles and essays, not tiny blog posts. Longer narrations means more manual Markdown markup. But I have a cool workaround in place. I already use Bear app every day for so many things. It’s a WYSIWYG text editor with Markdown running in the background. When you copy text there’s an option to copy as Markdown. I tried to copy and then paste into Write.as, and everything worked as expected.
Anyway, I appreciate your suggestion here. It’s precisely what I needed to get things working the way I want.
