Greetings All & Thanks for Reading,

I’m having trouble installing Write. As’s Linux Desktop application because the apt-key command has been deprecated. I found the [Ubuntu help](https://askubuntu.com/questions/1286545/what-commands-exactly-should-replace-the-deprecated-apt-key) article but it’s concerningly…involved.
Since apt-key has been dead for 5 years, wouldn’t it be time to update the instructions?
Posts here date from 14 years ago with answers, but the latest July 2025 has gone un-replied.

I’m a hopeless newb, but I guess I’ll try to follow the convoluted Ubuntu instructions and leave this plea here for more skilled folx to ponder.
Regards & Gratitude for a great site/product/platform,

Ben
